Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Materials Chemistry with focus on halide perovskites)

JOB DESCRIPTION

Tampere University and Tampere University of Applied Sciences create a unique environment for multidisciplinary, inspirational and high-impact research and education. Our universities community has its competitive edges in technology, health and society. www.tuni.fi/en

The Photonics Research and Innovation Flagship (PREIN) is a multi-disciplinary competence cluster focusing on the development of light-based technologies. PREIN is a national network that gathers the cutting-edge expertise in Photonics in Finland, including Tampere University, University of Eastern Finland, Aalto University and VTT research center. PREIN is one of the 6 Finnish Flagships funded by the Academy of Finland. The Flagship program is a northern fleet of excellent science, successful collaboration and solutions for tomorrow. Its rationale is to support future knowledge and sustainable solutions to societal challenges and seeks to advance economic growth by developing new business opportunities. Combining the resources and infrastructures of its partners, PREIN covers all the Photonics value chain, from fundamental research to applied research, seeding industrial collaboration, supporting mobility and career development.

PREIN develops light-based technologies for applications in life science, energy-saving, ICT, and environmental monitoring. The partners have complementary expertise and skills, ranging from the design and fabrication of nanomaterials and optical components to system integration and instrumentation development. Our research focuses on light field control, new materials and structures, and the development of light sources with tailored characteristics, all seeding to the development of novel technologies ranging from e.g. portable sensors, to LIDAR for environmental and industrial monitoring or smart photovoltaic modules for eco-efficient solutions.
For more information see our website prein.fi

The position is in the Chemistry and Advanced Materials (CAM) group (https://research.tuni.fi/cam). The group has a common strategy of using chemistry approach to design and fabricate functional compounds and materials.

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will be part of the ‘Hybrid Solar Cells’ team (https://research.tuni.fi/hsc) at TAU, in strong collaboration with the ‘Photonics Compounds and Nanomaterials’ team (https://research.tuni.fi/photomat). Furthermore, there will be possibility to cooperate with researchers at other Finnish universities (e.g. Aalto University) and with a broad network of international collaborators.

The project is part of the PREIN (https://prein.fi/) flagship program. Tampere University is inviting applications for a fixed-term employment as Postdoctoral Research Fellow for the time period of 2 years.

Requirements

You are an enthusiastic, highly motivated researcher holding a PhD in the area of Materials/Inorganic Chemistry or Materials Science, and with experience in the field of halide perovskites. We require strong hands-on experience in design and synthesis of novel perovskite materials, in bulk or nanocrystals. In-depth experience in spectroscopic characterization and/or hands-on experience in thin-film and/or solar-cell processing are considered as a plus. The work requires high level of experimental skills and analytical mindset for interpreting the measured data.

You are a team player able to work with multidisciplinary research teams. Your strengths include strong methodological background, excellent analytical skills, very good writing skills, high motivation for innovation, and flexibility to work and deliver results.
